No, Really it Does

Monday, December 19th, 2005

Stuck at a red-light, I found myself staring at an Italian restaurant. Painted on their front window was a map of Italy. I fixated on the map and thought, “Yes, it really does resemble a boot. A boot with a cuff.” Not unlike the boot belonging to Puss. Don’t know the story, just picture the cover art of Puss ‘n’ Boots in my mind.

I saw this post and it caused me to a smile with a half-snort. If I chuckled, I may have chuckled, but I don’t chuckle.

“Where is… “ (I clicked on this post’s title.)

“Lloyd Braun.

I need a new computer.”

HaHa. Pretty good.

Part of the humor for me simply lay in the fact I got it. While part of it was I imagined some poor chump who suffered a computer tragedy and he ( I envision a he) was trying to bring some levity to the situation.

Lone TV

While watching certain shows, I sometimes experience a feeling that I must, I would have to be, the only person watching the program. One such show is What I like About You on the WB. I turned it on last Friday and realized I had already seen this episode, not just once, but twice. The WB has this thing where they air “fresh” episodes of selected series on the weekend as a way to draw in more viewers and the WB aired this same Thanksgiving-themed episode four times in two weeks. I caught it twice, well technically three times, but I only left it on twice. It was during the first airing, though, that it struck me that if I wasn’t the only person watching What I like About You, I was definitely the only person in my age range to be watching this show willfully. I wasn’t babysitting some twelve-year-old who retained remote control rights. I am not friends with anyone on the production crew who may have begged me to watch the show so he/she could keep the job for another season. My television does receive station other than the WB. No, simply put, I chose to watch What I like About You and wished to see if Jennie Garth’s character falls in love with her husband played by Dan Cortese (yeah, the same guy from MTV’s olden days). And I will continue to choose to watch and see what happens between Amanda Bynes’ character and her cutie boyfriend. (They had sex for the first time the other week; damn that was some must-see WB.) And I will stay tuned for the outrageous comedy of the blond friend and the restaurant manager friend, Gary . And definitely, I will watch at least one more episode so that I can actually name some of these characters. Let’s see, Jennie Garth plays Val (of course, I remember that moniker), Amanda Bynes plays… ?
