It’s not a problem that can be “solved by clearing out the browser’s history.”- Stephen Colbert
While I was driving today, obsessively changing channels, I happened up the “Killing Me Softly” song. Even as a young kid I was taken by the words of the song. I remembered thinking this songwriter got it right versus the person who coined the “sticks and stones” saying. I always felt words carry significant power. The mighty pen and the sharp tongue could cause damage at depths tangible weapons could never reach.
So the song prompted me to think of the “You’re So Vain” song by Carly Simon. Ms. Simon has repeatedly been questioned and asked to name the source which inspired the song. She consistently refuses to name a name. I credit her loyalty and respectful maturity. I admit I may have had trouble holding my own against this seemingly never-ending question. I imagine the bitterness and a who-the-eff-cares attitude would eventually kick in and I would let out the secret. However, I would do so in a typical passive-aggressive manner: “Well, the first name rhymes with Foreign and the last name rhymes with Haiti.” So coy-like.
And then I received a text from a friend who acquired a new FB friend who seemingly has gotten over her youthful phase where she re-named herself and requested people to call her by a new name. I have been thinking of changing my name lately. Maybe I’ll go with a symbol…
And then I came home and read that Bea Arthur passed away. My first thought was of CP (my condolences Lexulous competitor!). My next thought was that I had actually just thought of her this week when I wore a long-ish gray sweater. The sweater skims my knees lending to a very Maude-like quality.
I still prefer Lexis over Westlaw and I feel that I am in the minority as whenever I use a computer in the lab Westlaw appears more frequently in the browser’s history versus Lexisnexis.com. I am not unfamiliar with being in the minority as far as my opinions go…
Sometimes I wonder if those “Jesus” pamphlets were left in the laundry room specifically for me.
If only…I had Sally Rogers job and Jennifer Hart’s lifestyle…But I wrote for “Supernatural” versus the Alan Brady Show and the Supernatural boys liked to hang around while we wrote the script and there was no live-in Max on my estate and Jonathon Hart was a little edgier and Jonathon and I were more like living together than married. If only…
What’s that I was saying about some “Jesus” pamphlets?
